What's the video card in this machine? Are you using 7.2 or 7.3 now? Did you upgrade or reinstall from scratch? Has the problem persisted through both versions? Have you installed the latest updates (including kernel 2.4.18-10) from Red Hat? What version of the kernel and XFree86 are you running and which driver? Is DRI enabled? Have you tried disabling it? What happens if you disable the screensaver (or pick one benign (non-3D)screensaver instead of random ones)? Is DPMS enabled? What happens if you disable it? Look, it's not surprising that Linux isn't bug-free, particularly in the arcane area of video drivers. If this is an XFree86 or kernel bug, odds are that other distributions have the same problem (unless it's fixed in later kernel/XFree86 versions and RH hasn't caught up yet). But if it's a bug, you'll need to report it to get it fixed. One advantage to Linux is that people frequently actually respond when you do so. For Red Hat Linux, the right place to go is https://bugzilla.redhat.com. BTW, it's bad form to start a new thread by replying to someone else's post. At the very least, change the subject to something more relevant to your issue than to the discussion you're forking. > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Greg Baatard > Sent: Tuesday, September 17, 2002 10:08 > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: General RedHat Linux GUI Questions > > [...] -- Matthew Saltzman Clemson University Math Sciences [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.math.clemson.edu/~mjs -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?subject=unsubscribe https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
