Have a look at minicom which comes on the RH CD's, or C-Kermit which doesn't.  
There are others but I've not tried them.

One gotcha that you may fall foul of is the permissions on /dec/ttyS0 (asuming 
you're using COM1).  Access to the file/device works exactly the same as 
acces to any other file in Linux.
