Hi Joey,   it looks like that you are booting in runnlevel 5 and the X server could not start correct. Try booting from disk or cd in rescue mode and edit your /etc/inittab. Change the following line "runlevelid:5:initdefault:" to "id:3:initdefault:" Normally in rescuemode your harddrives are automatically mounted so you simple can access the inittab file. When powered, the Linux kernel seems to load and the system ‘appears’ to boot normally.  We get to the RedHat splash screen and for about ½ a second, the text system login is displayed and then it all goes blank.  No display – nothing.   Nothing seems to bring it out of this state with the exception of a reboot which produces this identical scenario every time.  Have been totally unsuccessful in getting around this.   Help?   Joey
