Please forgive me if I am posting to the wrong list - there were so many of
them I just selected the one which looked the most general.

-----

I have a Windows 2000 box (HP Pavilion 2000) which I partitioned with
Partition Magic and installed Redhat 7.2 on. The installation went fine, and
I am able to boot in either Windows or Linux.

But when installing, no screen appeared about setting up my network. And
trying the network configuration tool after installing doesn't help either.
Linux doesn't seem to recognize my Melco/Buffalo LUA-TX USB LAN adapter.

This is one of the adapters which is based on the ADMtek Pegasus chipset. I
found some information on the web, which basically said, as follows:

"Edit /etc/modules.conf and make sure there is a line "alias usb-interface
usb-uhci" before "alias eth0 pegasus".

I did that - even tried restarting - but nothing happens, and the adapter
still doesn't appear in the Network Configuration tool.

As an aside, I installed an earlier version of Mandrake Linux on the same
machine earlier this year and the Mandrake installer did recognize this USB
LAN adapter and network connections worked. (I am trying Redhat because I
just happen to have newer Redhat CD-ROMs.)

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Doug Lerner, Tokyo
