Hi All,

Trying to get a tape drive working on a customer's (remote) Red Hat 7.2
machine I am doing the following:

mt -f /dev/ht0 rewind
mt -f /dev/ht0 retension
tar -zcpf /dev/ht0 --files-from /etc/backup.inc --exclude-from
/etc/backup.exc

The last command comes back with:

tar: Removing leading `/' from member names
tar (child): /dev/ht0: Wrote only 0 of 10240 bytes
tar (child): Error is not recoverable: exiting now
Broken pipe

The logs say:

May 18 13:22:12 ljh-server kernel: ide-tape: Reached idetape_chrdev_open
May 18 13:22:12 ljh-server kernel: ide-tape: ht0: I/O error, pc = a, key =
7, asc = 27, ascq = 0

Any ideas?

Regards,
