You need to make sure that the alias in /etc/modules.conf references the correct module, and that the initrd contain the correct driver. Try switch to the console after the install/upgrade completes, and recreate the initrd with the correct module. Something like this:
-ctrl-alt-F2 -chroot /mnt/sysimage bash -less /etc/grub.conf (find the initrd name) -vi /etc/modules.conf (or pico, emacs ... just change the scsi_hostadapter alias) -mkinitrd -f --with=aic7xxx_old /boot/{initrd name} {kernel rev} (possibly "mkinitrd --with=aic7xxx_old /boot/initrd-2.4.18-3.img 2.4.18-3" or "mkinitrd --with=aic7xxx_old /boot/initrd-2.4.18-3smp.img 2.4.18-3smp") -exit -ctrl-alt-F7 (or F1 if in text mode) Mike Pelley wrote: > Folks, > > I managed to get it to install (actually - update a 7.2 installation) by > doing an expert install and selecting the "old" aic7xxx SCSI driver > (I've seen some Bugzilla notes on differences in the BIOS of the > AHA-2940U2W cards that don't support the new driver). > > However, I'm back to the problem with the installed version of 7.3.
