At one time, there was a pointer for an updated kernel that allowed you to install to Reiserfs with 7.1, but it didn't handle 7.2 since EXT3 was present.
The only way I got reiserfs for my / partition was to backup and restore from tape when I swapped hard drives between systems. Some systems at work will have Reiserfs too because we install custom 7.1 systems from CD, and EXT3 wasn't included back then. Though we could use it now since an upgraded e2fsprogs are now installed. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Anand Buddhdev Sent: Monday, May 13, 2002 1:42 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: ReiserFS for root partition On Mon, May 13, 2002 at 01:02:49PM -0500, Kevin Krieser wrote: > I believe their intent is that they would prefer you use EXT3, which is > another journalling filesystem, with it's own advantages and disadvantages > with regard to Reiserfs. Yes I realise that, and I know some of the reasons why RedHat prefers us to use ext3. I do use ext3 myself, and I have no problems with it. But I am curious as to why ReiserFS is not an option, and if we do want to use it for the root filesystem, how do we achieve that? -- Anand Buddhdev Personal site: http://anand.org _______________________________________________ Redhat-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list _______________________________________________ Redhat-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
