Thanks everyone for the help.  Telnet is now working.  Ugh.

I can telnet from my Linux box to my Linux box.  HOWEVER, I can't telnet 
from a PC to the Linux box.  I get the message that the connection was 
forcibly closed by remote host.

Is it a firewall thing now?
