That will work from the console, but not from a gdm/kdm/xdm login screen. You would need to get to a console login first: Ctrl-Alt-F[1-6] then you could use Ctrl-Alt-Del to start the shutdown. I do this on a box I have setup as an Xterminal because it's the easiest way to shut it down. Tony - -- Anthony E.
