Hi, When I tried to play mp3s using xmms, it gives the following error in the console that runs it: arts_init error: can't connect to aRts soundserver
I know aRts has something to do with KDE. I used to use KDE, but then I switched to FVWM. The question is, why does xmms need aRts soundserver? I tried to run artsd first, and then xmms is able to play songs. But at some point, the sound will get really distorted. plaympeg runs fine so I don't think this is a soundcard problem. I have another another workstation that has run FVWM for a long time, and the xmms there works fine without aRtsd running. Could someone help with this? Thanks in advance for any response. Reuben D.
