Try just changing 'disable' to 'no' in /etc/xinetd.d/imap, and then
turn on xinetd.  Make sure 143 is allowed in.  That should be it, with
any luck.

That's true, but that's partly because there's nothing to configure,
really.  It's easy, but it's also very inflexible.  I personally don't
care for this daemon, but it's a great quick-and-dirty.  Scales
poorly, though.
