Hi, Have you try setting to boot in terminal mode and seeing if it has the same problem. Atleast it would allow you to know if it is a problem with x or not. Everytime I have had this problem on a unix or Linux machine it has been caused by bad hardware - however with a new machine that should not be your problem. Linda
