I've been working a lot with Redhat lately, but mostly on temporary systems
or using VMWare on Win2K. I've learned a lot but think I need to install it
and run it on a dedicated, well used system to keep the learning going.
Before blowing away my Win2K setup and installing RH72 on one of my
systems, I have a few concerns about things I can't live without.

CD-Burning
In the archives I've found a lot about burning CD's. I have a Sony CD-RW
CRX160E. I want to use a GUI interface to burn CD's and in the archives
found mention of Xcdroast and mystBurn. I assume I would be able to burn
CD's from an ISO image as well as create my own multi-session CD's. What
about Video CD's? Can I do this on Linux? Will I be disappointed at all
compared with using software like Nero or Adaptec CD Creator Deluxe?

Scanner
I have a parallel port Visioneer Paperport 6100B. Will I still be able to
use my scanner? What front end software is recommended for this? Worst case
I could move this to one of my other systems, but that kind of gets away
from the point. I want to try and use Linux as a replacement for win2K.

Pretty much all of my games will not work, but who has time for that
anyway, right? I figure I'll look at Staroffice for my Office suite. Last I
heard that was still free to use.

Any suggestions from people who have made this leap would be appreciated.

James
