How about this? I looked over your output and tried to manually cd to some places. Turns out that in my /lib/modules/2.4.7-10, there's a broken link!! I just installed this box from cd, so I don't know what the deal is. I've never seen this - but 'build' is supposed to link to something in /usr/src/linux, but that directory doesn't even exist!
