Hi moke, corret me if I misunderstand yrs problem... No, that shd not be the case, when u enabled the SMTP-Auth, you only can relay to it with right id and password, else u can't send thr it at all... May be you did enable in access or other to enable yrs emali client to by pass the SMTP-Auth...???
Hope this will help... rdgs, gary ----- Original Message ----- From: "Moke Tsing Moh Lim" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, January 18, 2002 11:27 AM Subject: RE: Sendmail SMTP with Auth Howto?? Hi, Thanks to all that have assisted. Tested with outlook express. Authentication works fine with PLAIN and LOGIN. But just one strange thing. MUA will authenticate when smtp server was set to authenticate. If MUA's smtp server authentication option was not selected, the mail will still go thru without authentication. Still don't understand why as by default, it should reject outgoing mail if "smtp server requires authentication" option is not selected. Please note these lines should be set in sendmail.mc (not cf). In Eudora, each account or personality has an "Authentication allowed" checkbox (on by default, a much better choice) that does the same thing. Let us know if it works, Moke. -- Rodolfo J.
