I am trying to set up a brother 1440 printer on RH 7.1. Linuxprinting.org recommends hl1250 driver, however, printtool does not allow this as an option for any of the brother printers listed. Interestingly, the foomatic directory contains several brother printers with hl1250 drivers.
I tried upgrading to the latest ghostscript rpm. I also tried the lastest foomatic rpm. I finally tried PDQ, however, PDQ wants a configured /etc/printrc file. My understanding is that RH 7.1 uses /etc/printcap. What is the easiest way to get hl1250 driver up and running? Can I use PDQ with RH?
