A long time ago I wrote some documents for Red Hat on postfix and
sendmail which will probably help you out. They are somewhat dated now
but the principles they contain still apply and they are Red Hat
specific. The sendmail howto document does a fair job of illustrating,
in simple language, how to use m4 to create a working sendmail
