I think they do need to stress the difference between their distribution and a freebie; but I think it's short-sighted to forbid identification of the distribution as being "Red Hat Linux without support." If it's an anonymous distribution, the recipient has no incentive to buy Red Hat--they may not even really know it's Red Hat. If it's identified clearly as "Red Hat Linux without support", and they like the package, they're much more likely to spend the modest amount to buy the REAL thing, on the assumption they'll like the support and printed documentation. That possiblity of capturing sales also makes support personnel answering calls with, "we don't support what we didn't sell. Want to buy it right now?" a profit center, if done right.
