This is a Redhat 7.2 install, default i686 kernel (i did not update the kernel but did update iptables, and when i did the iptables update it did give errors) I did not update the kernel because i saw no exploits from externel sources that i could be rooted with, if im wrong please let me know the other main reason i didnt update the kernel is because i went from lilo to grub and i remotely admin the box, would hate to do an update and a reboot and have the box die for some reason. Im using ipchains and it works fine, perhaps the default i686 kernel does not have iptables in it? Question: someone told me you no longer have to edit a file and run lilo etc for grub. You just do the rpm -Uvh file.rpm and your done. When you reboot it will take effect, is this true? I have been using it for 18 months without difficulty. Yes, RH kind of dropped the ball with ipchains/iptables on the 7.2 release but no fault was due to iptables. Perhaps you could outline your problem so we could help fix it rather than prattle on about how broken it is. > > jb > > > > _______________________________________________ > Redhat-list mailing list > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list _______________________________________________ Redhat-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
