Ok, so i have a sendmail 8.11.6 mail server sitting on a t1 with a cisco 2501 router. We have a customer that is on a ameritech DSL line with a firewall and NAT box. Before we upgraded to redhat 7.2 all was fine i think they were running 7.1 but with all the updates. After upgrading and going to 7.2 no one can now send attachments using outlook 2000. Rather it be these people behind a firewall NAT box or another admin on his cable modem. Outlook express however does work fine. Also i have been told but not SURE that if you dial into our PortMaster 3 (modem RAS box) and use outlook 2000 everything is fine. We have NO other problems except this one by the switchover/upgrade. There seems to be something that redhat 7.2 and sendmail does not like about microsofts outlook. That was not an issue in earlier realeases of redhat which in our mail servers case was 7.1. Any help welcome! I have allready spoke to the sendmail people, they are thinking its a distro problem, not a sendmail problem. They also brought up MTU sizes heres a quote:
>hello, i have recently upgraded a isp to redhat 7.2 using sendmail 8.11.6.. >before the upgrade everything was fine, not sure what version they were >using of sendmail. after the upgrade no one with outlook can send >attachments..and my mail server is fulling up with >root 18459 0.0 1.0 6204 2564 ? S 19:24 0:00 sendmail: >./fB70OUX18459 adsl-6x-4x-14-192.dsl.clevoh.ameritech.net [6x.4x.14.190]: >DATA >(ip changed to x to hide the user) >it seems to be timing out. people using outlook express are fine, seems to >be anyone using outlook 2000 for sure and perhaps other versions of outlook >can not send attachments.. ANY ideas on what could be going wrong here? we >have 1 cusomer using outlook and inner office email and all 42 people now >cannot send attachments. my /var/spool/mque is gettin a bit filled and as i >said when i do a ps auxwww i see the people hanging during the DATA stage.. The problem is more likely to be with the upgrade to redhat 7.2 than the sendmail upgrade. It looks like a problem with our system networking code. Maybe your dsl drivers are malfunctioning. >I thank you for any help you can furnish. The main significance of attachments, is that larger packets are likely to be sent. Maybe the MTU for your DSL interface needs to be adjusted. But that is just a guess. _______________________________________________ Redhat-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
