if you want.  i don't.  i just define my internal domain as 
<intra.datacabl.com>, thus my machines are <machine.intra.datacabl.com>, 
and thus <mail.datacabl.com> still resolves to the address defined by my 
isp, which is what i want.

you can either do this at each machine individually, or you can set up the 
DHCP server that also ships with redhat, and DHCP can inform your other 
machines what to use for their DNS server.
