I ran into this too.  The part I don't understand is why, in the name
of all that is green and good, can I not install from the actual
install tree on a local hard disk, but must instead have an ISO image
of a CDROM copy of said tree?  I'm sure there's a logical explanation
for why such an obvious process can't work (hell, even Windows can do
that), but it escapes me.
