I'm assuming this means the drive's gone south:
Error reading block ## (Attempt to read block from filesystem resulted in short read) while doing inode scan. Ignore error<y>? ...and the ## keeps climbing as it tries to run fsck on the drive. It's an old, 1Gb Seagate SCSI drive, however I would be very happy if I can recover the data on it...if at all possible, if not, c'est la vie.
