Hey folks,

I'm having just an awful time with audio problems right now. I recently
installed RedHat 7.1. I was running a modified 7.0 with 2.4.3 kernel, 4.0.2
X and most libraries custom compiled to work with my hardware (ATI Radeon)
that wasn't supported in 7. When it became to ocumbersome to maintain I
reinstalled with 7.1.

On the old system I was running Alsa and OSS drivers, changing as the need
arose. I am now running the stock 7.1 box on a dual processor MSI's MS-6321
694DPro AIR Mainboard, dual 600MHz PIII's, built-in AC97 VIA686a sound.

I couldn't get sound to work at all on the 7 box, but it works right from
scratch on the 7.1. The trouble I am having is with wav files playing too
fast. It doesn't do it in every app everytime. I've ripped files using
cdparanoia and played them in xmms no prob. Shutdown xmms and restart and
they play too fast. Play too fast using snd. Edit a file at normal speed in
broadcast 2000 and play it back in xmms and it plays too fast. Shutdown xmms
and restart it and it plays at normal speed - so I know they aren't being
written at the wrong speed. Open up a recently ripped file using Sweep and
it plays too fast.

Does anyone know what this is? I am editing songs for a CD compilation and
converting wav's to mp3's for an online radio station and I *really* don't
need this trouble at the moment :) Any help is appreciated....

Rob
