If you can't boot up via lilo then how are you going to to type "linux
something...". Maybe I'm missing something here, since I've never had a
system without lilo. :)
Are you thinking of "linux single"?
You can also make a single floppy distro of linux - and then mount the
drive and fix it from there.
Post it whenever you remember, I'd like to know too. :)
