The hostname is set in the /etc/sysconfig/network file. Your system,
i.e., X windows, also checkes your host file for the corresponding
name. If you change it in one place you have to change it in the
other. You can add permanent routes that will be there upon boot as
well. The one you have added though is not one I would permanently add
to my system.
