The IBM's are GREAT and will give a good performance increase. I
notice the difference between than other UDMA 100's I have had. Of
course, its a everyday use kinda feel and not really done scientific
statistical tests (and I would have to do this before I give any
number. I do physics theory, so anything less I would not consider
publishable).... BUT

extra safe, when you get one, you have to get a cooling device. When I got
mine, I also got a removable rack that is made out of aluminum (gets rid
of heat good) with a very small fan attached at the end to suck the heat
away from the aluminum case. I got three of each for stripping (RAID 5).
Each mobile rack just takes up a 5 inch extral space on the case, so
you need a good large tower. It was about $25 per mobile rack but its
works GREAT! I love the stripping and the ability to quicky changed
harddrives w/o unplugging anything. Its wonderful.
