I am trying to install VMware. It wants to know the location of the
'directory of C header files that match your running kernel'. In a later
prompt, it refers to the files it needs as 'the directory of kernel
headers'. The prompt suggests that the files may be in
/usr/src/linux/include. But those files all have to do with the old kernel.
I had to upgrade from 2.2.14-5.0 to 2.2.17-14 because I have an i810
chipset.

Evidently, what it's trying to do is run a script which will use the C
compiler to build what it calls 'vmmon modules'. So, I guess the question
that I'm looking for an answer to is," Where are the files VMware needs that
are associated with the upgraded kernel."

Please bear with me. I'm not sure I'm even asking the right question or if
I'm providing enough information so that someone can help me out here. And
please, no RTFM suggestions. I don't even know where to start. I've been
working with Linux for about a month and I'm stumped (again) here.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for the help,

Jerry
