How were you accessing the groupadd command? I think your problem may
have been the way youwere changing to root. If you use "su" or "su
root", your envirment doesn't get changed to root's envirment. So you
do not nave /sbin and /usr/sbin on your path. If you use "su -" or "su
- root", then it should work.
