Well.. it's DOS. Windows runs under DOS. Even NT found much of its
rooting in DOS. The emulation doesn't help much either :)
now adays.. computers have become (ironically) fake. Everything
(Windows-wise) seems to be emulated (meaning no native support, hence why
nothing stays up to speed). This is also why there's only support for
certain things under UNIX systems. In order to support everything that
DOS/Windows does, you'd have to drop security entirely and emulate
everything.
Anyway... MS is a great company financially, but it's a terrible software
company.
I could go on and on about why Linux, etc, doesn't fall victim to virii
like DOS does, but just remember one thing: one binary fits all.
