The cd drive should be listed somewhere with the configuration info...
but the quick way to see if it is an ide drive is to look at the back of the
drive and see if it has the block of jumpers to set it for master or
slave... that type of configuration is I believe exclusive to ide drives.
Several of the drives originally set up to run from a port on a sound card
were actually ide drives and the sound card just provided the second ide
port for the computer. (really messed up some computers that already had
two ports, cause some of the cards didn't really disable the port (or its
addressing?) when the jumpers said it was disabled....)
wait a few minutes for someone to correct me if the slave / master jumpers
were actually used on another interface too. but I'm pretty sure
