Before you can use the SCSI devices you will first have to configure the
adapter. What brand and type is it? Load the appropriate module for this
adapter.
Your SCSI CD writer should now be an sdx device (probably sda).
I am under the impression that you are confusing IDE and SCSI here. Using
cdrecord with SCSI should be very easy (just configure the adapter and off you
go), using IDE would be more difficult, because you have to emulate SCSI to be
able to use your burner as a pseudo SCSI device under cdrecord.

Why would you want SCSI emulation for your ATAPI cdrom? This reader works
fine as is, and there is no need to make it available for cdrecord as a pseudo
SCSI device, because you can't record anything with it ;).
So in short: Make sure your SCSI bus is properly terminated and configure the
adapter by loading the appropriate module using insmod or /etc/conf.modules.
Good luck,
Leonard.
