I don't know about elm, but you can set up Pine to get your mail
directly from your ISP, and send it out using your ISP's mail server.
If you go into Pine's setup, (s then c) You can set the "smtp-server"
option to point to your ISPs mail server. Then set "inbox-path" to your
ISP. mail server as well. This is all covered in the documentation in
/usr/doc/pine-<version>/tech-notes.
