You were right. Now I get the same problem because the makefile in the
rpm rpm is looking in /usr/local/include for all the include files and
the ImageMagick-devel installs to /usr/X11R6/include.

Is there some way to modify the specfile to override the variables or
set in the makefile or do I have to mod the makefile in BUILD, get it to
work and then tar it backup into SOURCES? What is the best way to do
this? I am kind of disappointed that I need to do all this since the
rpm was built by redhat. I may end up doing the perl -MCPAN deal as was
suggested but I really like the idea of using rpm to track software and
versions.

I am not a c programmer by any stretch and I don't have a good grasp on
all the includes and libs and paths needed to be set for a complicated
prog. to work,

TIA

Bret
