What is 24.14.246.1 the IP of? The cable modem? The company?

My modem has its own IP, which I had to add to my routing table with this
command:
route add default gw xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Maybe that's the problem.

Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use

I show that default as well, but not really sure if that what the
rest should look like or not.
