This means th xfs (X font server) is already running. Which is
required for X to start properly. xfs should be started with out you
having to do anything special.  The above suggestions were just verify
that it was in fact running.

Just starts the xfs... in this case already running.

Sorry.. it was a joke.  I assumed a familiarity with US slang terms.
A dunce cap is a special cap that ( in gest) is put on a person to
indicate they have done something very dumb.  I have done something
very dump on more occasions than  I can count, the most recent being
problems with the xfs I posted about.  Having neglected to check and
see if it was running.

You haven't earned the cap .... so no need to borrow it...  : )

Sorry I can't help further... My suggestions you followed were to make
sure the xfs was running... It seems it is, yet you still get the
messages so I'm out of ideas.
