Over the years I have had a lot of experience with Courier
V.everything modems and Sportsters, your problem is surprizing
because usually people have exactly the opposite experience - they
get better speed and more reliable performance with a Courier than
with a Sportster. There really isn't a configuration setting that
will cause the Courier to do a better job of connecting if you have
the current V.90 firmware, all you have to do is set it to the
factory defaults. Obsolete firmware is the only thing that I have
ever seen cause the symptoms you are describing. I know your Courier
is 'new', but if it has been sitting on a shelf in a warehouse
somewhere it may still need to be updated. The first v.90 firmware
wasn't very good at connecting and if you still have X2 firmware
instead of v.90 firmware that would completely account for the
problem. If you haven't already checked I would definitely check.
Good luck.
