Well, I'd *guess* that more than just the kernel is put on the boot
floppy. Matter of fact, I'm *pretty* sure there is more than just the
kernel on the boot floppy, and "mkbootdisk" puts those extra files on
there (things like info on where to look for the rest of the system,
etc.)
