I should probably have noted that these RPM's are no more or less buggy than
Red Hat's standard RPM's and are harmless on non K6-2+ processors. (Although,
oddly, /lib/modules/2.2.16-4/misc/emu10k1.o has unresolved symbols. This is
probably a pre-existing bug.) To verify that the new RPM's are actually
working, you'll see the following kernel message on a K6-2+ system:
Nov 30 20:58:19 linux2 kernel: Enabling new style K6 write allocation for 128 Mb
Also, your /proc/cpuinfo will change from
flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr mce cx8 sep pge mmx 30 3dnow
to
flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr mce cx8 sep mtrr pge mmx 30 3dnow
