update to prior message.....
not sure this is really relevant but......
my latest purchase of rh 6.2 ( when my other cd went bad ) was
special edition using redhat linux.......which came with publishers
edition ? of rh 6.2
i understand its similar to the standard version of redhat
whatever.......
anyway in the book I did finally notice that it mentions after of course
doing:
make dep clean bzImage modules
to do:
make modules_install install
yes the last install is not typo........it actually does all the
updating of stuff in /boot..
the stuff i mentioned earlier.......system.map-2.2.14-50 is updated
which wasn't geting down before adding the last .................install
so this is either a change up in 6.2? or in publishers edition........
at any rate I still am getting unresolved symbols errors but at least
most things are working........the errors seem to be coming from
lib/modules/misc directory...........?
when system boots it says failed to activate ppp0.....retrying in
background
then as system boots it starts to dial internet and logs on fine BUT
when there is no program button for it on
panel as in being able to log off......so i just had to add it manually
no biggie but this is all abnormal..:-)LOL
any ideas appreciated,,,,,,,,,
and at least i'm finally cd burning again :-)!!!!!!!!
