I've got one right here, and it works well, with limitations. The
proper
way to configure it (6.2, 7.0 are all I'll vouch for) is to run
printtool.
Go through the usual initial steps for "Add" option, and hit the
[Select]
button for Filter.
Under Printer Type select "HP 550C/560C/6XXC series"
Under Printing Options click on "Send EOF after job to eject page" and
"Fix stair-stepping"
Then hit Ok & so forth to exit printtool. On the way out it's a good
idea to restart lpd. Then just have at it - works well here.
I have set up 4 printer cues, as follows:
lp standard 3 bit depth
lp0 8 bit
lp1 24 bit
lp2 32 bit
You currently can't get higher resolution than 300x300, and you can't
access the duplex mode printing. Overall, it has worked well, and one
of these days there'll probably be a fully configured filter for it.
