hello all,
iam trying to use ppp to connect to
another computer. i have some doubts
to be cleared, which i could not solve
from the information available to me by all
means.
1) When i connect through modem, it appears
at the server to be LAPM. how to make it
compressed(achieving data compression)
i.e LAPM COMPRESSED
2) the server requires me to start pppd at it
while connecting. as iam using linux-2.2.X,
i have the ppp scripts in /etc/ppp/scripts.
the script ppp-on contains two entries..
ACCOUNT :
PASSWORD:
apart from other entries.
now with what i said above, should i use
"ppp" and "*******" as account and password
to start pppd at the server or should i use
my username and password in those places to
get logged in?
if I use ppp and ***...., where to
place my username and password in the scripts?
if I use myusername, how to start pppd while
connecting?
note that iam not supposed to use PAP here.
please help.
