Sorry I haven't been following this thread so I am coming in midstream. So
this may be offtrack. However I did an oldfashioned low memory install of an
old slackware version for a machine with only 4 meg of ram. It was
specified as the minimum memory requirement but the
install couldn't boot. The work around was to get your
swap formated and turned on allowing the install to use
the swap memory for the install. When I was working
on it someone also suggested a possible solution of
swapping the hard drive into a better machine for install
and than moving it back to the low memory machine.
