I'd rather use the text installation instead myself, but from within the
graphical installation all you need to do is to hit the button that is
labeled "skip test". Incidentally, that will also configure your system
to use runlevel 3 by default, which means that when you boot up it will
not come up with all the graphics but rather a regular prompt login
screen. That will also allow you to "experiment" with different
configurations for the X Server.
