Right now I'm using SqWebMail (http://www.inter7.com/sqwebmail) with the
Apache + SSL. I only have a small amount of traffic but it works pretty
well for me.
You might also try IMAP over SSL. Courier IMAP
(http://courier.sourceforge.net) supports this as well and includes
SqWebMail.
A possible hitch is that it requires using the Maildir format which may mean
switching to QMail (http://www.qmail.org) from Sendmail.
This is a recommended switch anyway. This mailer is used by Yahoo and
Egroups and is supposed to be quite a bit more secure than Sendmail. The
author has had an offer to break the security of it for $1000 that has gone
unclaimed for quite some time.
