Another hint that might help you. Make sure that you have your host name
and ip listed in /etc/lmhosts file. Beyond the loopback address you need to
let Samba know who you are in that file.

Look at the Samba docs on encripted passwords.  You will ether have to
enable them in Samba, or disable them in NT.  You may also want to use the
/etc/smbusers file to map jblackmore to john...
