Subject: RE: Install problems!
format floppy in win 98, then
mount -t msdos /dev/fd0 (?)
/floppy
Sorry, can't remember the device for the floppy
drive. I think you can DOS format a floppy in Linux too.
Hi everyone.
I am brand new to RH and Linux. I just
did an install of RH 6.1 on a new Dell. I have problems with the
sound card. I went to the mail server archives and got some
answers. The Montego cards needs the new drivers from aureal.
So I downloaded them using win98. I copied the file (a tar.zip file)
on a floppy and tried to have it read by Linux. No go. I get
an error. I finally found how to format a floppy in Linux thinking
it would be read by Win 98 but no go.
So how do I exchange files between Win and
Linux on floppies??!!
I don't have a network access and I am still
trying to configure my ppp connection (modem busy! Any help there
would be greatly appreciated).
Also I changed the perms to the /dev/mixer
(as root) but when I log back-in as root or another user the perms are
gone! Hugh?! Can anyone explain that to me.
Thanks for any and all help.
