I don't know if this is helpful: My impression is that for Linux, but not
Windows, the BIOS is immaterial except for booting. So if the 45GB drive
does not have to be booted (if you can boot from something the BIOS
recognizes like the 13GB drive--although my BIOS would only recognize 8.4
GB no matter what) then you don't have to worry about the bios. Otherwise
I think you have to live with whatever limitations your BIOS imposes. I
think the cylinders/heads/etc. stuff became obsolete with drives bigger
than 8.4 and that your BIOS is reading the correct size because your IDE
drive has a BIOS that is reporting the correct size.
