I have recompiled 2.2.16-3. Now on shutdown I get the following (in
part because I don't find in it anylog since all it appears after the
shutdown of all devices appears on the screen:

I realize this is skimpy information. I do not have sound board, this
is a limited use masquerade server being set up and the only errors I
see relate to the sound subsystem that I will take out of the kernel
when I recompile.
All pointers appreciated.
