Ok, Bero....
Lemme ask this: According to the RedHat web page, "To use
Update Agent, you must first register your copy of Red Hat
Linux 6.2. " However, to register RedHat 6.2, you have to
purchase a copy. You can't register a copy you burned
yourself from an ISO you downloaded. Trust me, I've tried!
Is this "up2date" a sneaky way of forcing people who want
an easy way to update stuff to purchase a copy? What the
heck is the use of having an ISO if you're going to make us
BUY a copy just to use the blasted update agent???
I'm sorry if I'm misunderstanding, but I'm getting VERY
frustrated. I'm on the 4th or 5th attempt to use up2date to
update my installation of RH6.2 and it keeps crashing and/or
freezing. This is NOT good, Bero! I really expect better
from RedHat!
Further, we can't use any server but RedHat's, apparently,
because every time I try to use one of the mirrors I get an
error connecting to the server. So, what's the deal,
Bero.... I'd LOVE to use up2date to update my installation,
but if it's for "registered users only" what the heck is
the use of having it in the ISO in the first place, since
we can't register a copy we've burned ourselves!!!
IF this turns out to be a "registered-only" feature of RH,
I say you folks need to let us register a home-made CD for
a SMALL fee (since we're providing the media and the time
to download and burn the cd ourselves!) of maybe $5 or $10.
I don't mind supporting RedHat, but I sure as heck don't
appreciate you folks *apparently* putting a registered-only
feature in something we can download and burn ourselves!
Again, my apologies if I misunderstand.
John
